CATCHING CAMPS
This camp offers comprehensive instruction to develop the mechanics of the catching position. Drills will be used to develop receiving, throwing, blocking and other skills of the position.
Objectives
- Improve each players’ catching mechanics, understanding of the position, and ability to call a game
- Teach techniques to support pitchers, steal strikes, and guide corrections. (Set-up, One Knee movements, Etc.)
- Develop field leadership
- Communicate the fielding responsibilities of a catcher
Areas of Instruction
- Stances while giving signs, with and without runners on base
- Receiving pitches
- Blocking pitches
- Throwing to bases for steals and pick-offs
- Fielding the position
- One Knee technique (older players)
- Strength, agility, and flexibility training

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED CATCHING CAMP
* This is not a beginner camp, it is meant for experienced intermediate to advanced catchers. All players must have their own complete catchers gear. *
Ages: 9-11: Intermediate
12 and up: Advanced
Dates and times: Sundays 1:30-2:30 PM
