Bucks County Baseball Academy was created by Dan Kusters and Steve Marlow in 2002. Both played locally in high school (Archbishop Wood and Council Rock) and were scholarship athletes in college (Villanova and Penn State).
The academy teams, The Generals, were created to provide a better place to play competitive baseball. The Generals culture strives to foster mentorship, developmental instruction, and guidance as baseball players, as well as their families, move from the little diamond, transition to the big diamond, prepare for high school, and reach the collegiate and professional levels. While doing this, the coaches and the players of the Generals often talk about character, integrity, respect (for the game, teammates, coaches, parents, umpires, and the opposition), self-discipline, grit, and resiliency.
A better place to play
The Generals provide an opportunity to play with and against some of the best players in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our professional coaches create a positive and supportive environment to learn the game of baseball.
Our younger teams (9U – 15U) travel to the highest caliber tournaments in the area including Perfect Game, Diamond Nation, Ripken, MSI, Sports at the Beach, and also compete locally at PCC, USSSA, and ECTB events.
Several Generals teams have been ranked nationally by Perfect Game.
Our 2016 14U team won the Perfect Game Mid-Atlantic Regional championship then placed 3rd in the Perfect Game National Championship in Fort Myers, FL beating other regional championship teams from Georgia, Texas, and Florida along the way.
Playing for the 9U-14U Generals
There are two seasons Generals teams play each year: Spring/Summer (March - June) and Fall (late August - October) that are based out of the Chalfont facility.
The Spring/Summer season starts at the beginning of March with 2 indoor practices each week at our Chalfont facility to prepare our players for the season. Play begins in April and continues to June. The goal for most teams is to play 8 weekend events during that span. Over the past several seasons, the 12U team has ended their season playing a week-long tournament Cooperstown.
The Fall season typically starts in late August with games starting in early September and running through mid-October. The goal for most teams is to play 4-5 weekend events during that span.
During each season, the teams and players will have:
- One indoor and one outdoor practice each week
- Access to 2 training sessions with Carlos each week
- Access to open hitting times after school and before our practices start during available times
Generals High School Teams
There are two seasons Generals teams play each year: Summer (June-August) and Fall (late August - October) that are based out of the Chalfont facility with outdoor practices at Plumstead Christian Academy.
The Summer season starts when the high school seasons end. The goal for these teams is to attend 8 events during that span to provide our players with as much exposure to college coaches as possible.
Past events include:
- Diamond Nation Super Events
- PBR and Perfect Game Events in Lakepoint, Georgia
- Prospect Select - Boston Open
- MSI
- All-Star showcases
- Individual college showcase events at Delaware, St. Joe's, Richmond, Lehigh, Bucknell, and Rutgers
The Fall season typically starts in late August with games starting in early September and running through mid-October. The goal for these teams is to attend 3-4 events during that span.
During each season, the teams and players will have:
- Practices during the week based around travel days and availability
- Access to 2 training sessions with Carlos each week
- Access to open hitting times after school and before our practices start during available times
- Media Day - each player will spend time with our professional photographer in full uniform to be used for our website, Media Guide, and all social media platforms
- Individual family recruiting meeting with our Recruiting Coordinator J.R. Barder
- Scout Day - player video and metrics will be captured for all players and will be used to create player profiles on our team pages of the website for college coaches to review.
Off-season player development, starting in early November and running through February, is also included in your team tuition:
- Winter pitcher training - 1.5 hour sessions 3 times each week are scheduled, amounting to nearly 70 hours of training. Each player is given a physical assessment by our Doctor of Physical Therapy and an analysis of the pitching mechanics along with a plan for improvement. Force plate analysis will be used to create a training plan.
- Position players - 1.5 hour sessions twice per week are scheduled, amounting to nearly 50 hours of training. Each player will be given an analysis of their hitting mechanics using K-Vest along with a plan for improvement.
"BCBA is an elite organization that continually exceeds my expectations! Their program exudes an exceptional level of professionalism, knowledge and care. Focusing on the player individually, as well as the team, coaches create a fun environment while instilling the skills necessary to take your athlete to the next level. My son found the “something more” he was looking for after becoming a part of the Generals."

Tenured, professional coaches
A large majority of our coaching staff has been with Bucks County Baseball Academy and The Generals for more than 10 years. Several coaches were players in our system that loved their experience and decided to coach with us after they graduated college. We’re not looking for baseball lifers to coach in our program, we’re looking for exceptional people who are successful professionals outside of baseball to learn our program and mentor our players.
Every coach in our system goes through an annual update on the hitting and pitching curriculums and meets with the Directors to ensure compliance to our conduct and standards. The experience as a General is consistent from 9U through our high school teams.
Become a better player
The training and development programs at Bucks County Baseball Academy are cutting-edge and have generated PROVEN results for improving our players' performance. We utilize advanced teaching protocols and state-of-the-art equipment along with randomized, outcome-based training that helps our players improve their skills and execute at a high level on the field.
Our pitching program begins with a physical and mechanical assessment to identify areas for improvement and to create a personalized development plan. Training sessions include total body training, throwing drills, arm care work, and mechanical development to ensure a strong, healthy throwing arm.
Our hitting program helps players to develop barrel control on all types of pitches, explosive mechanics, and maximize ball exit speed. Training sessions include drills to improve the skills of hitting, mechanical enhancements, and total body training to create power and enhance stability. Rapsodo is used to collect hitting metrics including ball exit speed and launch angles.
"The Generals offer top of the line coaching and mentoring. The practices and workouts are professional, efficiently run and fun. The hitting and throwing programs produce real, measurable results."

Guidance through the college recruiting process
We know the college recruiting process can be a little overwhelming.
We employ a full-time recruiting placement director to help our players create and execute a plan to play baseball in college. And more importantly, we tailor this process to ensure the schools are a proper match from an athletic AND academic perspective.
Each off-season, we start with an organizational recruiting seminar to introduce our players and families to the recruiting process. It’s a program that sets us apart from everyone else.
Each family will meet individually with the recruiting placement director to provide step by step instructions for creating a plan. We utilize a software program that helps to match college roster openings with players’ athletic and academic criteria.
Throughout the year, we promote our players on social media so college coaches can become familiar with our players. PBR routinely favorites and resends our posts to its massive following.
"Quickly becoming one of the most respected travel programs in the state, The Generals continue to help develop college caliber prospects on a yearly basis."

Pennsylvania Executive Director of Scouting
